Success at the British Bouldering Championships!
At a new venue and with even higher stakes than usual, this year’s British Bouldering Championships took place last month at the new Big Depot in Manchester and the field was stacked. There were Olympic athletes, World Cup winners, seasoned competitors and some strong newbies, all competing for a place on the podium. Amongst them, Psychi athletes Lucy Garlick and Emma Edwards were there to battle it out.

With this year's event coming before the competition season, the BBCs acted as a GB Climbing selection event. 150 hopeful athletes began the qualifying round on Saturday and by Sunday evening, the stage was set for an impressive show in the finals with just 16 athletes remaining. There was no shortage of technical, coordination and outright burley moves on show in the final problems and the margins were incredibly tight, with attempts determining the podium places.

Our newest team member Emma Edwards came away with an absolutely outstanding second place, behind Olympic finalist Erin Mcneice, with Psychi crusher Lucy Garlick placing just outside of the podium in an incredible 4th place after Fae Macdougall in 3rd, who secured just one more top. An absolutely incredible effort from our athletes, we’re super proud and excited to see what they get up to in the upcoming international season!
